Course Information
Description	Topics may include introductory treatments of sets, logic, number systems, number theory, relations, functions, probability and statistics. Appropriate applications are included.
Prerequisites	MATH 0332 or TSI math score of 350 or higher.
Learning Outcomes	Upon successful completion of this course students will: 1. Apply the language of notation and sets. Demonstrate fundamental probability/counting techniques and apply those techniques to solve problems. (PSLO 1,3, ALPHA) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework as well as the pretest and post-test 5. Interpret and analyze various representations of data. (PSLO 1,3, ALPHA) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework as well as the pretest and post-test. 6. Demonstrate the ability to choose and analyze mathematical models to solve problems from real-world settings, including, but not limited to, personal finance, health literacy, and civic engagement. Core Objectives	PSLO ALPHA: Demonstrates comprehension of content-area reading material. Identifies all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material; demonstrates a full understanding of the reading. PSLO 1: Critical Thinking Skills: Students will engage in creative and/or innovative thinking, and/or inquiry, analysis, evaluation, synthesis of information, organizing concepts and constructing solutions. PSLO 2: Communication skills: Students will demonstrate effective written, oral and visual communication. PSLO 3: Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Students will demonstrate applications of scientific and mathematical concepts.

Lecture Topics Outline	Because this is an online class, we will not see each other much face to face. There will be an Orientation Meeting on campus scheduled during the second week of class one evening. I will keep you informed as soon as the date and location is set for sure. Please note the "office hours" listed at the beginning of the syllabus. I will be available for calls, emails and texts at that time. Taking pictures of your work and sending them so I can see what you are doing is a great way to get help if you are struggling on problems. You can text and email 24/7 and I will reply as soon as possible. I do check both very regularly. Please limit phone calls to the "office hours" and days.

Determination of Final Grade	Tests: 60% Quizzes: 25% Homework: 15% All homework will be done on computers using MyLabsPlus using the following website www.lamarpa.mylabsplus.com Your Lamarpa username is your username, your birthday is the password. Example: June 5, 2001 would be Jun052001. The password is case sensitive and has no spaces in it. You may have free access until February 4, 2020.

Attendance Policy	Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. There will not be any makeup quizzes or makeup tests. A student's lowest test grade will replace a first missed test. A student will receive a zero for any missed quiz, a second missed test or missing the final exam. The final exam is required.
Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
